Having managed to secure £3.4m funding from The Co-operative Bank’s Property Finance Unit, Manchester’s Economic Solutions Ltd has created an innovative building specifically designed to provide high quality, economic ‘grow-on’ office space to services the areas rapidly growing small businesses.

The project has also been supported by the Greater Manchester Action Plan, which has provided £2.6 million of funding through the European Regional Development Fund.

The three-storey, 38,000 sq ft site comprises of a range of office space and in-house office units in a variety of sizes, depending on the needs of the business.

Digitech - working in conjunction with the main development partners Langtree and construction company Morgan Ashurst provided the design, supply and project management of the communications infrastructure including audiovisual, voice and integrated media services.

Consisting of a Category 6 structured cabling system from manufacturer Connectix, the solution comprises a primary communications room with resilient fibre and copper services to remote satellite communications rooms located on individual floors. Gigabit switches provide fast throughput and performance to the high specification facilities which include video conferencing, wireless visual projection, electronic drop down projection screens, surround sound audio, touch sensitive plasma displays, interactive whiteboard technology and integrated digital media.

Digitech worked with other partners on the project including project manager and quantity surveyors WCP Associates, architects DLA Architecture and structural engineers White Young Green.
