Divine Mercy School

Divine Mercy School

Manchester's newest primary school has opened its doors for the first time, kicking off a new chapter for education in Moss Side.

The Divine Mercy RC Primary School is built on part of the site of Manchester City FC’s former Maine Road stadium, and even its official address - Blue Moon Way - commemorates the location’s history.

Formed from the merger of the former Bishop Bilsborrow RC Primary and St Edward’s RC Primary, the school has a capacity of 460 places and a 60-place nursery.

In keeping with the schools high profile and the need for ‘proven performance driven technology’, which maximises teaching time, the school has deployed a Ruckus 802.11n wireless solution.

The Ruckus system was chosen as it overcame the problems encountered with other school wireless solutions such as channel conflicts, slow log on and response where high numbers of users connect simultaneously to an access point.

As the nominated Framework One, ICT contractor, Digitech Integrated IT Solutions was responsible for delivering all aspects of the ICT infrastructure and hardware. This included the supply and installation of interactive whiteboards and touchscreen plasmas, the supply of new desktops and laptops for staff and pupils and the integration of the two existing ICT infrastructures. Working closely with the incumbent ICT Support Staff, Digitech delivered a new state of the art ICT infrastructure on time and within budget.
